Claire has suffered from anxiety and depression for most of her life. She also deals with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Fortunately, she is at a stage in her life where things are finally feeling good.

Claire always tried to help people. She loves to put a smile on other people’s faces and to know that with a small or big action she has helped make someone’s life a little better.

Claire’s personal intro

When I was first told that I had anxiety and depression, it made a lot of sense to me. It explained so many things I was up to, from IBS to constant worries to disasters and everything else. But I felt like I didn’t really know who I am anymore.

I felt lost. I had to learn to become aware of myself.

What does it mean to find yourself?

“I think I don’t really have to find myself.”

For me it was trying to figure out who I was before I knew I was scared – the carefree girl from then who was the life and soul of the party was always surrounded by people and wasn’t worried about ANYTHING.

I tried to go back and dress like I used to dress (even if it was now out of date!), Cut my hair like I used to, and wear the old makeup. It didn’t help, it felt like I was trying to be someone else.

So I tried to reinvent myself, maybe I was hiding under someone who is new. I tried different styles of clothing, listened to music I had never heard before, wore my hair longer, and tried different types of makeup.

I still didn’t feel like “me”. So I stumbled through life in a cycle of ups and downs, not sure where to go or what to do in life.

I tried different business ideas, maybe I should be an entrepreneur who changes the world !!!

My “aha” moment

Fast forward many years to 2020 and like everyone else in the world I am banned due to COVID-19. Time to think!

I was alone a lot while my husband was still working; I think a lot about an old friend with whom I no longer have contact. I realized that she wouldn’t recognize me anymore. Not because I look different, but because I am a different person.

I’ve changed through my journey with anxiety, depression, and IBS. My values ​​are different. But they are my values ​​and those of nobody else. I went vegan, found a style that worked for me, and trusted what I believe.

The person I used to be quickly changed to suit and be liked by the people around them. I felt like a hypocrite when it came to my love for animals – to eat meat and dairy products. I was in a relationship with someone who abused me emotionally.

It was then that I realized that I never had to find myself. I’ve always been here, I’ve just changed, grown and learned.

You don’t have to find yourself

That is why I believe that so many people have difficulty finding themselves. Becoming aware of yourself does not mean finding yourself, but understanding that everything is changing. Friendships come and go, styles change, jobs evolve, and we’re no different. We adapt to our situations and learn as we grow.

Once you get to the point where you think you have found yourself, things can change and you will feel lost again. how to adapt to your new situation.

How to become aware of yourself

The most useful thing I’ve found is how to become aware of who I am NOW. What do I believe in right now? Do I live a life that corresponds to my current values?

When we do this, we feel more in sync with ourselves. and as we learn new things, we can adjust our self-esteem as well. We just have to make sure that we live in accordance with our values.

So take the time to think about what you believe in. Write down your values. Does your life reflect these beliefs? If not, make changes and see how you feel. If you feel you are out of sync, check these values ​​again. Are they still the same

Adjust to your new beliefs as you grow and learn and you will feel more balanced.
